Fishing for atlantic salmon

More than 50km of free fishing on the Gave d’Oloron and the Saison !

• Open Season: The trout season is from mid March to mid September. Salmon fishing is closed tuesdays and thursdays on the Gave d’Oloron but is open on the Gave de Pau.

• Techniques: Fly fishing is practiced by many anglers here and fishing with a fly is without doubt the most satisfying and noble way to catch the King of Fish ! Spinning and ledgering using worms are allowed and produce good results.

• World Salmon Fishing Championship: This competition is open to any fisherman and is a good excuse for a ‘fête’ during the ‘Bastille Day’ celebrations on the 14th July in Navarrenx when the prizes are given out. Download the competion form.

• Fishing Permit: Special permit is needed to fish for salmon (and sea trout).
